Course overview
The VTCT Skills Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care is designed for experienced professionals who hold, or are developing within, management responsibilities in adult social care.
At Level 5, the focus moves beyond delivering care to leading people, managing services and improving organisational performance.
Learners explore leadership and management theory and learn how these principles apply within real adult care environments. The programme develops the ability to manage teams, supervise staff, allocate resources, make evidence-based decisions and ensure services operate safely and effectively.
A major area of the qualification is governance and regulatory compliance. Learners develop their understanding of legislation, statutory guidance, organisational governance, regulatory systems and inspection processes relevant to adult social care.
The qualification also places significant emphasis on person-centred leadership. Learners develop approaches that promote independence, choice, control, positive outcomes and appropriate positive risk-taking while ensuring appropriate safeguarding and risk-management systems remain in place.
You will also develop the skills needed to lead staff development, professional supervision, performance improvement and organisational learning.
Throughout the course, learners are expected to demonstrate their management and leadership competence through real workplace practice.
