The VTCT Skills Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments is designed for learners who want to develop a broad range of professional beauty therapy skills and gain a recognised Level 3 qualification.
The programme takes learners through a structured learning journey beginning with the foundations of professional beauty practice. You will first develop your understanding of health and safety, salon procedures, client consultation, communication, contraindications and professional working practices before progressing into practical treatment delivery.
A significant part of the programme focuses on advanced practical treatments. You will learn professional body massage techniques alongside anatomy and physiology before progressing into facial and body electrotherapy. Facial electrotherapy training includes technologies such as galvanic treatments, high frequency, vacuum suction, faradic/EMS and microcurrent.
The course then expands your treatment portfolio through additional specialist units. Skinova's current programme includes aromatherapy massage using pre-blended oils, intimate waxing for female clients, self-tanning and individual permanent lash application.
Training is highly practical. Sessions combine tutor-led theory, demonstrations, supervised practice, consultation exercises, treatment planning, portfolio development and practical work on clients or models. The programme is designed to gradually build competence so that learners understand not only how to carry out a treatment, but also why it is appropriate, how to select suitable treatments, recognise contraindications, work safely, adapt treatments and provide professional aftercare.
You will also develop wider employability skills such as professionalism, client communication, record keeping, customer care, business awareness, retail recommendations and continuing professional development.

The programme is delivered in person at Skinova Training Academy's Ilford training salon.
Learners normally attend:
3 sessions per week × 6 hours per session = 18 guided learning hours per week.
The full programme is structured across approximately 31 weeks.

Entry Requirements
- Applicants should: Be 18 years or over on the course start date. Complete an enrolment interview with Skinova Training Academy. Be able to commit to the required attendance and practical training schedule. Have an appropriate level of spoken and written English to understand safety instructions, consultations and assessment tasks. Have basic numeracy skills appropriate for measurements, timings and basic commercial calculations. Be able to participate safely in practical treatment activities. Where appropriate, reasonable adjustments can be considered individually. Skinova's programme documentation specifies English and numeracy at approximately Level 2 Functional Skills standard, although these are not formally tested as entry qualifications.

FAQs
Do I need previous beauty therapy experience to enrol?
No formal academic prerequisite qualification is required under the VTCT entry rules for this Diploma. Skinova assesses applicants through its enrolment process to ensure the course is suitable for them. Applicants should be aged 18 or over and have an appropriate level of English and basic numeracy for the programme
Is this course practical or mainly theory?
It is a highly practical course. You will study the theory and anatomy behind each treatment, but a substantial part of your training involves tutor demonstrations, supervised practice, client consultations and practical treatment assessments in Skinova's training salon.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment takes place throughout the programme through practical observations, external theory/question papers where required, a portfolio of evidence and professional discussions. There is not simply one final examination at the end of the course.
What can I do after completing the qualification?
Successful learners can pursue work as qualified beauty therapists or progress into areas such as advanced beauty therapy, laser/IPL, permanent hair removal, teaching, salon management or self-employment.
